My Story

Here’s a little bit about me…

I’m a man of faith. In fact, my faith is the most important thing in life to me. My faith in Jesus Christ sustains me and gives me purpose and direction and love and concern for others. My faith is precious to me.

I’m also a husband. I’m married to a beautiful woman and have been for (at the time of writing), nearly 16 years. It’s been awesome.

I’m also a dad. I have two amazing sons (the main characters in my books are named after my sons) and they are pretty awesome.

I’m also hairy. I have a beard at present and have for many years, but I’m toying with the idea of shaving it off. My sons are opposed to this idea, but my wife seems strangely open to it.

I live in the small town of Ingersoll, Ontario (I love small towns) and enjoy writing, spending time with my family, my church, sitting in my backyard drinking coffee (in the summer) and I have in recent years developed a taste for olives. I have also never successfully ridden a unicycle.

If you want to learn a little more about me, I encourage you to read my story leading up to the novels which I’m currently getting ready to publish.

  1. For the record, I am NOT in favor of the complete beard shave. That was a misunderstanding (I may or may not have been multitasking when you told me.)

  2. Thanks for following my blog, Shawn! I used to live just across the St. Mary’s River from Sault Ste. Marie, ON, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Lovely area. Your blog appears to have a great deal of solid info for writers, and I’ll be exploring it more.

    • Canada is a beautiful country! Thanks for the encouragement. I started this blog because I was struggling to find answers to some of the self publishing questions I had. I found people offered general advice, but not enough specific advice. As I move through the process, I’m hoping to blog on all the steps and create a simple, step by step plan for self-publishing!

  3. Iโ€™m so glad you shared your story! I too had Encephalits caused by HSV Type 1. I found encouragement in reading about your experiences. Search โ€œDr Googleโ€ for my story. Search โ€œJeannieโ€™s story: epilepsy surgeryโ€ to see a short interview on what Iโ€™ve encountered since the virus.
    God bless!
